I was supposed to be a Christmas baby, so my parents decided to give me the middle name of Holly. The fact that I was late and was a New Year's Day surprise that had my Mother in labour for most of New Year's Eve is neither here nor there.
So, it comes as no surprise that I have a special affinity with this spiky beautiful plant. My Daddy used to call me Holly Berry and it is a nickname that seemed especially apt at this time of year.
My Aunt and my Cousin found me this Gisella Graham fairy and packaged and sent it to me weeks ago in honour of mine and G's first Christmas together. Note the fact that she has dark hair, as do I, something that fairies very rarely do. I am especially in love with her glittery holly leaf skirt and her golden holly leaf wings. A more perfect ornament I don't think could have been found for me.
I love and adore Christmas, the magical feeling of it all and the joyfulness it seems to bring with it. I may have been experiencing a little too much of the Christmas season this year. G and I have been running here and there trying to get round seeing everyone we want to while at the same time managing to get everything we need for Christmas.
But now it is all done. All the food shopping is in, the decorating is finished and the house is clean and tidy. The Carols from King's College are on and Christmas Eve is at last upon us and a sense of peace is beginning to settle upon my household.
Merry Christmas to all of you out there in blogland, it's been both a pleasure and a privilege to be allowed into your homes this festive season and see what you all do to celebrate.
